Professional Biography
JS Bird received an MA from SUNY Oswego and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has worked as a faculty in Visual Arts for fifteen years at Lane Community College. In his time at Lane JS has served on a number of committees, including the Assessment Team, the Honors Committee, the Academic Program and Review Committee, and as Interim Dean of the Arts. Previous to Lane he served as Assistant Professor at SUNY Brockport in upstate NY. JS has exhibited paintings in over 100 group and solo exhibitions, including Boston, NY City, Washington DC, Chicago, San Jose, and many others. He also released a novel The Boy Who Painted Fire, which revolves around the transformational power of art and creativity.
