Andrea Goering

Andrea Goering (she/her) fell in love with physics as a freshman at the Colorado School of Mines, enthralled by the promise of physics as a tool to understand the world around us. She followed her curiosity to Eugene, OR, where for her PhD she studied the way light interacts with materials at the nano-scale (smaller than the size of a bacteria). Life in the lab was lonely, but the classroom was just right, so Andrea started teaching just after graduating in 2019. She teaches physics and astronomy at LCC and at the UO. She especially adores astronomy, where physics can help us understand things from our own solar system up to the stars, galaxies, and our entire universe's beginnings and endings.
