Professional Biography
Gina Love is a versatile costume and makeup designer whose work includes theatre, dance, ballet, opera, film and television.
Her costume collaborations locally are University of Oregon Opera, Eugene Ballet, and Eugene Opera. Her most recent costume design and makeup design most memorable productions are La Boheme, Acis & Galatea, Midsummer Night's Dream, A Christmas Carol, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Her national affiliations and collaborations are with Northern Lights Music Festival, Costume Society of America, United States Institute for Theatre Technology, and American Association of University Women.
In her endeavors to bring well-round experiences in her classroom, she always tries to guide students into self-sufficient learners who use their resources to figure it out instead of resorting to just asking someone for the answers. Gina's formal education is a MFA in Theatre Arts Costume Design from the University of Oregon, a BFA in Fashion Design and a minor in Costume Design at Woodbury University, Burbank, California, and an AAS degree in Business Management and Marketing from Southwestern Oregon Community College.
Gina has been working in academia and the performing arts industry since 2004. Her positions have included: costume and makeup designer, wig designer and technician, cutter/draper, costume studio manager, wardrobe head, and professor. In addition to teaching costuming courses, she maintains an active free-lance design career and her portfolio may be viewed online.
