Professional Biography
Shanel graduated from Niagara Community College in New York as a RN in 2003. "Becoming a nurse was one of the best choices I have ever made." Most of Shanel's experience has been in the acute care setting in diverse units such as a telemetry unit, emergency department, education and intensive care unit. Her two greatest passions as a nurse are in education, and critical care. "I feel so lucky to still be at the bedside in the CCU at a local hospital, and fulfill my dream as a full time nurse educator with Lane Community College." Shanel's advice to nursing students: "Work hard, and don't give up on your dreams. There are many different specialties in nursing, and there are so many options. Although at times the path is difficult to travel, never give up!"
