Professional Biography

Mark is an architect, structural designer and educator. He is the Program Coordinator and Faculty Instructor for the Drafting Program at Lane Community College.

Mark is director of the Building Ecology Laboratory, a trans-disciplinary research laboratory examining the interdependencies and influences of building and natural environments. Mark’s experience as an architect and engineer in professional practice has informed the integrative and collaborative trajectory of his work. The Building Ecology Lab brings together designers and scientists in order to discover the interconnections between building and nature and the effects of these interconnections. 

His research has been published in the Journal of Architectural Computing and has been presented at international conferences including the Architectural Research Centers Consortium (ARCC); the International Conference on Structures and Architecture (ICSA); International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS); the International Conference on Sustainable Design, Engineering and Construction (ICSDEC); World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE); and the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA).
