Piano Instructor
A native of Taiwan, Hung-Yun holds a Doctoral degree in Piano Performance and Piano Accompanying from the University of Oregon, where she studied with Dean Kramer, and a Masters degree in Piano Performance from Peabody Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Marian Hahn. She has been selected to perform in many competitions, including the International Taipei Piano Competition (2003), the Rachmaninoff International Piano competition (2002), and the Baltimore Music Club competition (1997). In addition to competition appearances, Hung-Yun was invited to perform a Baltimore premiere of "Duo Ye" by renowned composer Chen Yi in 1997.
Hung-Yun has performed extensively in Taiwan, Korea, Canada, and throughout the Northwest. She has performed in master classes given by Stephen Hough, Dalton Baldwin, Barry Hannigan, Paul Roberts, Andre-Michel Schub, Angela Hewitt, Scott McBride Smith, and Sophia Gilmson. She has also made orchestra appearances with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, the Oregon Mozart Players, and Orchestra Next.
Hung-Yun joined the Lane faculty in winter 2008. Since then she has taught Keyboard Skills, Group Piano, Sight-Reading and Ear Training, and private piano lessons. In addition to working at Lane, she is the Choral Accompanist for the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance, the Eugene Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and the Oregon Bach Festival Conducting Masterclass. She also frequently serves as the Accompanist for the Oregon Music Education Association (OMEA) Honor Choir and as an Adjudicator for the Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA).
